Back to school

This morning was my first Spanish class in Medellin. I left early so that I could bumble my way through buying a notebook – aside from feeble Spanish, my ear is not used to the Colombian accent and I have enough trouble shifting from British to American English. Then to find an ATM to withdraw the payment for my classes. This was an annoyance as it was raining. It was not cold, but the rain was cool and drippy. Then, ATM after ATM either didn’t work or gave me an outrageous exchange rate. Finally, I withdrew about half of what was needed and arrived at the school.

This turned out to be a very small outfit, just a husband and wife with two rooms in which they teach. I am being taught by the wife. They seem a pleasant and knowledgeable couple, and I hope I am right as I do want to learn, having felt a bit stuck in past weeks. Their teaching style is to take notes as they go along and make one review them again and again, which seems sensible. Anyway, the two hours passed quickly.

Then back, and back to work aside from a short break for lunch of which the highlight was more maracuya, this time ladled over a small flan.
